How to Prep Your Roof This Fall

Before winter arrives, don’t forget to follow this checklist to ensure your roof, gutters and attic are in tip top shape!

  1. Regularly Check for Falling Debris - Keeping up with the roof is an important part of maintaining the health of your house. Avoiding debris buildup means avoiding any of the issues (or even erosion) that can come from the debris on your roof.

  2. Clean the Gutters - A spatula is a multi-purpose tool! You can easily clean out the gutter by using a spatula to scoop out the leaves. They can also help to wipe off any of the grime sticking to those gutters.

  3. Check for Leaks - Not catching those leaks can result in damage during the winter, which means having to fix those leaks during the colder months.

  4. Add a Gutter Guard - Consider installing a gutter guard to block future debris. This can be especially helpful in the winter where snow can block and weigh down the gutters

  5. Properly Insulate the Attic - Protect your home from the elements & save money on your utility bills in the process!

  6. Evaluate the Damages - Check for damages before they turn into major damages, come winter.

  7. Make Repairs - Take advantage of the warmer weather now to make those pesky repairs you might be putting off!
